Maz.a.gine

Cayleigh loves to read. One thing that she really likes to read is her Ranger Rick magazine. She was given a subscription as a gift, and she will put everything else aside to read her magazine as soon as it comes in the mail. I think it is so adorable that she calls it her maz.a.gine. I don't correct her pronunciation because I just want to hold on to that last bit of little girl in her as long as possible. If you hear her say mazagine, don't correct her. Just enjoy the cuteness. Hopefully when she asks where the mazagines are at the library she won't be too embarrassed.

I remember dancing in the living room with my sister...all three of my girls love to turn on the piano music and dance!

Winter Park

We spent a long weekend in Winter Park enjoying the mountains and the snow. We went skiing/boarding at Sol Vista, we went sledding, and we visited Rocky Mountain National Park where we saw three moose. We had a great family weekend, and also spent some time with good friends.

Story Time

Cayleigh loves to read, and Natalie loves to be read to. What an adorable combination! Here they are enjoying a favorite book that their Aunt Jennifer sent.

Eric Carle Project

We studied the art of Eric Carle for a school project, and had so much fun! We checked out a large collection of his books from the library. We read the books many times, and studied Mr. Carle's art. We checked out his website, and watched some videos on how he creates the art for his books. Then, we tried making our own art in Eric Carle style. This was definitely a highlight of the school year for both the girls. Cayleigh created her own Hermit Crab based on her favorite Eric Carle book, and Keira created her own butterfly.

Muddy Buddies

The girls enjoy spending time with me in the kitchen, and they especially enjoy making treats. Today we made Muddy Buddies, and Keira was my helper.

Ice Skating

Drew plays Hockey every Monday night and every Friday morning. He loves it. He got new skates for Christmas this year after skating on his old pair for ten years. It was time, and he is excited about having a good pair of skates. Drew was anxious to break in his new skates, so, we decided to take the girls skating. Cayleigh and Keira have been before, but this was Natalie's first time. She thought it was great. She did a good job standing up and trying to walk on the skates, but she didn't want to work at it for too long. She was content (mostly) to sit out on the ice and watch for a while too. Cayleigh and Keira enjoyed skating again. Keira, in her typical fashion, went all out and probably fell about 25 times. Poor girl. She had a great time, but her knees were completely bruised the next day. (I'm so glad that Drew made sure they wore their helmets.) Cayleigh really took her time, as usual. She only fell twice. I find it very interesting how different Cayleigh and Keira are. We enjoyed skating so much, that we took them again the next week.

Fashion Show

One of the benefits of having a sister that is just two years older than my daughter, is that my girls get hand-me-downs from their Aunt! It is so exciting when Grandma mails us boxes full of clothes for the girls. Cayleigh enjoyed trying on her "new" clothes and posing for a fashion show. Natalie had to get involved too, she just loves to be like her big sister!

It's Potty Time

We decided to pull the potty out of storage because Natalie was showing signs of interest. So, we have been a bit busy around here.

Playtime

I love Colorado because we can play at the park in January in just a light jacket. Yes, both my older girls are barefoot, and Cayleigh is wearing shorts. They both insisted that they were not cold even though there was a bit of snow on the ground.

See?

Natalie doesn't mind smiling for the camera, but she always has to "see" her picture. So, she will dutifully smile, then tilt her head and say, "See?"
